Apple gives us a sneak peak of its diverse new emoji

In celebration of World Emoji Day, Apple showed off several new emoji that will be coming to iOS 11, macOS, and watchOS later this year.

Included in a blog post are Apple’s spin on some of the most talked about emoji from Unicode 10.0, including woman with headscarf, breastfeeding mom, exploding emoji head, and mythical creatures like zombies and elves.

If some of these look familiar, it’s because the Unicode Consortium, a standards body for emoji, added 69 characters to its lexicon last month. Vendors like Apple have the ability to customize those emoji so they fit the look and feel of their platforms.

Here are a few more emoji you should expect to see on Apple devices in the coming months, including the upcoming iPhone 8:
