Solo: A Star Wars Story actress Thandie Newton walked the pink carpet on the film’s Cannes Movie Competition premiere Tuesday in what may be the most effective Star Wars couture of all time.
Newton’s costume—a customized Vivienne Westwood piece—is embellished with figures of all of the Black characters within the Star Wars universe, io9 reported. Even higher: All the photographs are of motion figures in Newton’s private assortment.

Per the Purple Carpet Style Awards, the customized Westwood robe makes use of the designer’s “Absence of Roses” print overlayed with photographs of Newton’s private Star Wars collectible figurines taken by Christian Hogstedt.
The robe marks Newton’s debut as Val in Solo: A Star Wars Story and as the primary Black girl to have a number one function in a Star Wars movie. It’s notable that there are few sufficient Black Star Wars characters that they match on a costume, a press release Newton undoubtedly supposed—and nailed in fashion.
